Working in Confined Spaces
Employers must ensure that employees and subcontractors are aware of confined spaces that could be encountered in the normal activities of the company’s work.
Safe work procedures must be followed when entering confined spaces.
OH&S (confined spaces) regulations 1996 provide an entry permit that must be used for all confined space entries.
Serious injury or death may result unless appropriate precautions are taken. Employees and subcontractors should never enter a confined space without informing their supervisor / manager. Specific procedures shall be followed carefully and the necessary safety equipment to be used.
